Ukrainian Week in Washington: Realities and Prospects for Ukrainian-American Relations

The Ukrainian week in Washington showed that the world has changed, and we have not yet fully realized it. The Ukrainian delegation came looking for support that no one promises anymore. The United States is increasingly moving towards a pragmatic policy, which means new challenges for Ukraine.

The closure of USAID, the increase in duties on Ukrainian metallurgy, and the emphasis on investments instead of grants are all shaping a new reality in which we can no longer rely on unconditional assistance. It’s time to offer, not ask.
