Today, on World Water Day, we recognize the invaluable role of water in our lives and remind ourselves of the urgent need to preserve it. Water is not just a resource—it is the foundation of life, health, and prosperity on our planet. This day serves as a powerful reminder to unite our efforts in protecting and using it responsibly.
During an event at the Basin Water Resources Management of the Black Sea Rivers and the Lower Danube, Veniamin Unguryan, Vice President of the Association “EU Strategy for the Danube Region”, addressed the attendees with an important message:
“I would like to extend my greetings on behalf of the Association and the Regional Council. We have united as a parliamentary group within the Regional Council under the ‘EU Strategy for the Danube Region’ and fully support your vital work in managing water resources. Your efforts go beyond implementing state policies—they represent a conscious responsibility for preserving one of our most valuable treasures. We are ready to collaborate and assist in joint projects to ensure the sustainable development of our region.”
One of the key priorities is the implementation of River Basin Management Plans (RBMPs). To achieve this, the Association and the Regional Council are actively working with the Odesa Regional State Administration and other governmental bodies. Veniamin Unguryan also stated that an official appeal is being prepared to district state administrations to unite efforts in bringing these plans to life.
Let World Water Day inspire collective action. Negligence could lead to the loss of this essential resource, but together, we can ensure its purity and availability for generations to come
