Three years ago, on February 24, 2022, Russia’s full-scale invasion irrevocably altered Ukraine’s fate. This day became a defining moment, dividing the country’s history into “before” and “after,” bringing not only devastating destruction but also a challenge that demanded an unprecedented mobilization of efforts to rebuild the nation.
During this difficult period, the need arose for an organization that could serve as a bridge between Ukraine and international support. Thus, under the initiative of Pavlo Unguryan and a team of leading experts from various fields, the Ukraine Rebuilding Alliance was established. Our mission was clear: to help people return to their homes and rebuild the devastated infrastructure.
From the very beginning, we understood that the scale of reconstruction would require new models of cooperation between the government, communities, and businesses—built on transparency, accountability, efficiency, and long-term planning. Therefore, our primary goal was to lay the foundation for reconstruction that would make all further processes possible.
Over this time, we have signed a number of key memorandums and agreements with leading construction companies, civil society organizations, businesses, and government agencies. This has enabled us to pool resources and expertise from more than ten Ukrainian and international organizations.
Equally important was conveying our vision and earning the trust of Western partners—demonstrating Ukraine’s investment appeal and our readiness for change.
This is why participating in international forums and conferences has become a crucial part of our work. Ukrainian Week in Washington, the ReBuild Ukraine exhibition in Warsaw, the Kyiv Security Forum, the Odesa Black Sea Security Forum, the Odesa Economic Revival Forum, and many other events have served as platforms for dialogue with government representatives and investment communities. Thanks to this advocacy work, we have established strategic connections with countries such as the United States and South Korea.
A particularly significant milestone was the first Korea-Ukraine Forum in 2023, organized in partnership with the Korea Ukraine New Building Association. Speaking in the South Korean Parliament, we emphasized: “Ukraine’s reconstruction is not just a necessary step toward recovery but a unique opportunity to forge global partnerships, drive innovation, and invest in human capital—paving the way for shared prosperity and a sustainable future.”
One of the most pressing issues for us remains energy independence, a national priority in the rebuilding process. In collaboration with the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, we are working on projects related to decarbonization and energy conservation. In the United States, we presented new solutions aimed at maximizing energy efficiency in reconstruction projects—creating safe, eco-friendly, and comfortable living conditions, which are the cornerstone of Ukraine’s future.
While focusing on strategic, long-term projects, the Alliance remains committed to addressing the immediate needs of Ukrainians. We enhance community security by supplying anti-drone systems and other essential equipment to protect residential areas and critical infrastructure. In 2023, together with our partners, we organized a volunteer forum in Izmail and, during Ukrainian Week in Washington, presented the modernization concept for a Rehabilitation Center, aimed at providing access to cutting-edge equipment and comprehensive assistance for veterans and individuals recovering from injuries. These initiatives are crucial in supporting those affected by the war, demonstrating our commitment to tackling both urgent and long-term challenges.
Together with the Department of Internal Policy of Odesa City Council, we brought together over 100 young Ukrainians at the “Youth & Politics: Points of Connection” Forum. Regardless of age, the new generation has shown a firm commitment to rebuilding Ukraine, becoming a driving force for change and innovation.
And this is what truly inspires us, giving us renewed strength. The new Ukraine will not wait for “after the victory.” It is being built now—by those who believe in it.
