An international conference, “Energy for Reconstruction,” and a closed-door meeting with representatives of the Italian Government were held at the historic residence of the House of Savoy — the Royal Castle of Govone (Piedmont, Italy). Yurii Maslov, Chairman of the Board of the Ukraine Rebuilding Alliance, took part in the event, presenting key projects and tools for the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities.
The conference brought together representatives of government, academia, business, and the cultural sectors of both countries. Distinguished participants included Davide La Cecilia, Special Envoy of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Reconstruction of Ukraine; Roberto Cerrato, President of the Research Center; Professor Sergio Olivero, Head of Innovation at the Energy Center of the Polytechnic University of Turin; as well as representatives of the Piedmont region and municipalities.
The main topics discussed with Italian partners included:
— Real challenges and mechanisms for the effective use of Italian assistance in Ukraine;
— The role of UNESCO in Odesa and the preservation of cultural heritage as one of the key areas of future reconstruction;
— Innovation and energy efficiency in reconstruction processes.
During his presentation, the Chairman of the Board of the Ukraine Rebuilding Alliance presented the Strategic Council under the Head of the Odesa City Military Administration. The institution was presented as an effective platform for bringing together government authorities, academics, businesses, and international partners around specific Odesa reconstruction projects.
Particular attention was paid to the future of the Odesa Archaeological Museum, which recently celebrated its 200th anniversary and for which Italy has assumed patronage in matters of reconstruction. The event was a logical continuation of the Strategic Cooperation Agreement signed at the beginning of 2026 between the museum, the Royal Castle of Govone, and Italian companies Ilsat BD and Italveco Energy.
This agreement establishes a unique precedent by bringing together cultural heritage protection, urban regeneration, energy infrastructure development, and project financing. The goal of the partnership is to turn pilot sites into models that can be scaled up during the large-scale reconstruction of Ukraine. Technical and scientific support for these initiatives is provided by the Energy Center of the Polytechnic University of Turin.
“We sincerely thank Davide La Cecilia, Roberto Cerrato, the Government of the Piedmont Region, and all our Italian partners for their support for Ukraine, their high level of trust, and their readiness to implement concrete joint projects. A true bridge to the reconstruction of Ukraine is being built from Govone,” said Yurii Maslov.
Bilateral dialogue and work on joint initiatives are actively continuing. The next meeting, aimed at consolidating the results and launching new stages of cooperation between the Royal Castle of Govone, the Ukraine Rebuilding Alliance, and the Odesa Archaeological Museum, is scheduled to take place in Italy this autumn.
