Ukraine’s fisheries sector is in deep crisis. We cover only 10% of national demand, remaining critically dependent on imports. Aquaculture — a rapidly growing field globally — still remains on the sidelines in our country. Since the full-scale invasion, the situation has only worsened: warehouses destroyed, enterprises shut down, logistics chains severed.
Today, we took an important step toward changing this reality. Yurii Maslov, Head of the Ukraine Rebuilding Alliance, and Serhii Kozak, Head of the All-Ukrainian Business Association of Fisheries and Aquaculture, signed a memorandum of cooperation.
“We see the crisis in the industry, but together we are ready to change the situation. Our goal is to unlock the potential of the Danube region, where thousands of tons of resources are lost every year due to inefficient management,” comments Yurii Maslov.
This is about trust and the unification of efforts to restore and rethink Ukraine’s fisheries sector. We see it as part of a modern European economy — transparent, sustainable, and technology-driven.
The Ukrainian fish industry must be integrated into European and global value chains. Through investment, standards, innovation, and long-term policy — through knowledge, partnerships, and trust. Because sectors like these — where local experience meets global vision — have the power to transform the country’s economy at its core and become the foundation for recovery.
