Restoring cultural heritage: a unique catalogue of old printed books

For the sixth time, the Great Odesa Bibliothon was held, where the additions to the national bibliography were presented. Among the new acquisitions is a catalogue of old Cyrillic script books from the 15th and first half of the 16th century.

The catalogue was created as part of the Museum of the Ukrainian Book project by the Odesa National Scientific Library and the Department of Culture. The curator was Yuriy Maslov, head of the Alliance for the Restoration of Ukraine.

“We completed work on the catalogue before the war started. However, due to military events and difficulties with replication, the process was significantly delayed. Now we can proudly present you the results of our work,” he said.

In addition to humanitarian and research initiatives, the Alliance is also actively engaged in programmes aimed at preserving and restoring cultural heritage.

“The issue of national identity is very acute nowadays. I am glad that our library has been enriched with another interesting catalogue that demonstrates the works of Ukrainian graphic artists through a variety of ornamental art: engravings, illustrations, sketches. It is of great importance for researchers of Slavic culture, historians, librarians and everyone who appreciates national printing,” added the head of the Alliance.
